A new build house with nothing but a tiny patio for two people out side the back door and dirt was what welcomed my clients to their new home. The ground was heavy with mud, and sloped towards the house. The sunniest part of the garden was at the far end of the garden and my clients wanted a space for entertaining outside in summer.
A Red theme was requested for planting. Budget £4000.
Solution – to create a deck surrounded by raised beds, with which we could fill with good top soil for planting. All plants chosen were happy to be in clay soil so would be ok if drainage became a problem. The deck filled most of the width of the garden, allowing plenty of space for entertaining in sunny weather, and an asymmetrical path made sure access was possible from house to deck.
A simple and effective solution.
