Beautiful Resin Bound Gravel for Permeable Contemporary Parking
This 1950’s built house in Weybridge still had the landscaping that came with the house over 50 years ago. The driveway and path were still the concrete slabs laid originally, practical but not beautiful. The lawn was passed its best and despite efforts remained full of weeds. It was important to the client that the new driveway was permeable, using 21st Century materials. The planting need to be colourful with year round interest.
A full redesign of the whole front garden was planned that would transform the whole front and side of the plot. No longer a scrubby lawn, but beautiful hard landscaping and fabulous colourful planting. The new pathway and driveway were covered with beautiful and versatile resin bound gravel. This comes in many colours and is permeable, so great for the environment ensuring rain seeps back into the ground and not the drains. Island of stone were placed within the planting area for both practical and aesthetic purposes. These beautiful reformed stone shapes are from Organic Stone and allow the gardener to stand on solid ground whilst gardening. They also creating interest amongst the planting, and instantly transforms the front garden from 1950 to contemporary.
We planned planting to start in early spring with crocus, iris reticulata and hyacinth. As spring develops Alliums, Tulips and Penstemon burst into life among a myriad of perennial plants and lasts all through the year. Tall grasses make a statement through the winter months. We also added sweet box for winter fragrance near the front door. The colours are bright and eye catching, with oranges, purples and reds, as well as whites and softer tones. We made sure there was plenty of evergreen plants as well as seasonal change. There is always something new to look at as the client steps out of the front door.
Since the garden has been completed passers by stop and comment on the glorious colours.
